Comment fic meme #2
Mar. 5th, 2012 03:28 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
After the first round of
got_exchange we had a surprisingly successful comment fic meme going for a while (here's a list of all the fics that were written last time), so I thought it might be fun to do this again. (Like last time, it's posted on the mod account journal because I don't want to enable anonymous comments on the exchange community.)
I changed the layout to one that still supports comment titles. I hope it works for everyone. If there are any problems, please let me know.
A couple of rules, or rather guidelines:
- please include the pairing/character (and maybe a short prompt/kink) in the comment title - both for prompts and for fills.
- there are both show and book fans on this comm, so please warn for book spoilers beyond AGOT in the comment title.
- anonymous comments are enabled, but I'd appreciate if we kept them to a minimum. If you absolutely want to go anon, okay, but I'd rather we kept this as non-anonymous as possible.
- all prompts are welcome: smut, gen, romance, fluff, angst, het, slash ... anything goes.
- and the usual: be civil, no character/pairing bashing, no kink shaming etc.
It's perfectly fine to repost prompts from the last comment fic meme or from the exchange.
As with any kink meme, this is only fun if people also fill prompts, not if there are only requests.
Filled prompts:

Date: 2012-03-07 05:18 am (UTC)Cersei/Ned - Rebellion outcome AU
Date: 2012-03-07 05:50 am (UTC)FILL: Cersei/Ned; Rebellion outcome; "The Lion Queen"; PG-13 (Part One)
Date: 2012-03-07 05:56 pm (UTC)Scarcely a week after her wedding to King Eddard Stark,- Ned, he keeps telling her, just Ned- Queen Cersei Lannister- Cersei Stark, it still feels strange in her mouth, the sibilance somewhat bothersome- enters her husband’s solar at his request. She sits in the chair opposite him, her hands folded on the tabletop; he reaches across the table to cover both of hers with one of his.
There’s something tentative and nearly shy in his grey eyes as he tells her of the Old Kings in the North, who welcomed their queens in council, who counted their consorts among their most valued advisers.
“I know that this is not how things are done in the South, and if the idea makes you uncomfortable, I would never require it...” His grip tightens, just a bit, and his impossibly solemn face softens- “...but I would like to have you at my side, my lady.”
“Cersei,” she reminds him for what feels like the thousandth time- but when she lets the words settle, when she realizes what he’s asking of her-nay, offering her...the ability to sit on a council of men and express her views with authority-
For the first time in their marriage, Ned pulls a true smile from her, and when he returns the grin, a light appearing in the somber depths of his eyes, she feels her heart beat a little faster.

Date: 2012-03-07 05:54 am (UTC)+ let's assume that Catelyn was not at the Red Wedding, and hence there is no Lady Stoneheart,
+ Also, this can be shippy or platonic, I don't mind either way (I mean, they aren't blood-related and they never had a child-parent type relationship anyway sooo...)

From:Sansa: "I am a Stark, I can be brave."
Date: 2012-03-07 01:18 pm (UTC)gen please, because the only person I ship Sansa with is Stannis and I don't really feel like reading about Sansa with anyone else, so I'd prefer gen (unless anyone would want to make me even happier by writing Stannis/Sansa).
Re: Sansa: "I am a Stark, I can be brave."
Date: 2012-03-07 02:46 pm (UTC)She expects to be afraid, in the throne room at King's Landing, stood before her lord (her king, her soon-to-be husband). There is no softness in him, she thinks, and there is certainly little enough kindness in his expression. But, as he takes the white Stark cloak from her shoulders and replaces it with the Baratheon yellow, she realises that she is not afraid. When she feels his hands on the clasp at her throat, her breath doesn't even hitch.

From:Robb/Jon and/or Robb/Theon
Date: 2012-03-07 02:32 pm (UTC)Fill: Robb/Theon, slight Robb/Jon; War is Not a Game (PG)
Date: 2012-03-09 03:44 am (UTC)He never imagined himself alone, fighting the Lannisters.
Sometimes, when the crown weighed down too heavy, he looked back behind him for Theon’s cocky smile, searching for reassurance. But he only found the grief-stricken face of his mother. Robb would never say who he was looking for - she didn’t like Theon, didn’t believe he would find the peace with the Iron Islands that Robb needed.
But Robb knew Theon would make the truce. He only wished he didn’t need to be so far away.
At nights, Robb missed Theon the most. His warm presence beside him, pulling his body closer. They had shared a bed for years, even beyond the last Winter, and as Robb had aged, Theon had become more daring. In the dark of his tent, away from the eyes of his mother and the Northern lords, Robb remembered Theon’s hot hands, his demanding mouth, the way he held him into the night. He tried not to think of it too much. Robb supposed he could find some whore to relieve himself, but it wasn’t some unknown woman that Robb wanted – it was the familiar feel of Theon that he longed for.
There was no one to confide in, no one to show his pain and grief. Jon, who had shadowed him for as long as Robb could remember, was even further away than Theon. There was no time in war to write letters, even when their father had died. Robb wished he could comfort Jon and hoped he wouldn’t do anything rash. Jon had always been there with him, following him through the halls of Winterfell. But he couldn’t follow now, not into war, despite all of their games. No amount of wishing could make his brother appear. Robb felt the distance stretching on between them keenly.
Every day, Robb was reminded just how wrong everything was. He was King. His father was dead. His sisters were held captive by the Lannisters. One brother was crippled and the other was growing up with no parents to guide him. He didn’t know how to put the pieces back together. He didn’t know how to keep his family from falling apart. He didn’t know how to wage war without Theon’s crude jokes or Jon’s solid presence at his back.
The only thing Robb could count on was battle, where he could lose himself in the surge of emotion that came along with killing men. The Northmen had placed all their hopes in the King in the North and Robb needed to be strong and just, like his father.
If a tear sometimes leaked out into Grey Wind’s fur late at night, nobody needed to know.
He was alone, after all. Alone and at war. Surely, that was forgivable.

Date: 2012-03-07 04:31 pm (UTC)Euron/Victarion, ADWD spoilers
Date: 2012-03-07 05:45 pm (UTC)Fill: Euron/Victarion, hatesex [dub/non-con, violence] 1/2
Date: 2012-03-08 01:43 am (UTC)Warnings: it's Euron/Victarion, so obviously there is dub-con/non-con, violence, blood, and more mentions of rape. Also, Victarion's manpain is all over the place.
--------
Victarion took always care to control himself around his brother, for he knew that if he ever lost his temper, he might not know when to stop. The kinslayer is damned in the eyes of gods and men - and so he swallows his anger every time.
But what truly stays his hand whenever Euron provokes him with his laughter and his smirk and his stinging words is the memory of that one night when Victarion did lose his temper. He does not even remember what had caused his rage that time, what Euron had said to make him so furious that his fist slammed into Euron's smile before he even thought about it. He only realised what he had done when he heard the crack of bone and saw blood spill over his fingers.
And Euron laughed. Bleeding, coughing, but he laughed into Victarion's face the way he always had, like he was mocking him for reasons Victarion could not quite comprehend. So he hit him again, and again, his fingers slick with blood, and he thinks he might have killed Euron that night if the storm raging outside had not reminded him of the gods' wrath.
So he stopped, and he turned to leave, but Euron was still laughing, breathless and amused.
"Oh, brother, you never were good with words, were you? Nothing but Balon's obedient fist, striking when he commands it, lost when you are not needed, like a mad dog snapping at thin air."
The words had found a wound he had not even known of, a scratch on his pride - he was content to serve Balon, but he could not bear this one-eyed scum mocking his faithfulness, mocking his devotion to their eldest brother and lord. Euron was still breathless with pain and laughter when Victarion grabbed him, fingers tearing through garishly coloured fabric. His brother gasped when Victarion threw him over the table, one hand between strong shoulder blades pinning Euron down, but even that gasp of pain sounded mocking, as if Euron was merely indulging him.
I'll make him choke on his laughter and his blood, he vowed to himself as he ripped Euron's breeches off, only angered further when the cloth resisted, when he needed to pull his knife to cut them open. The blade scratched over Euron's thigh, drawing a thick dark line, and Victarion dropped the knife before he could slam it into Euron's back. Muscles twitched underneath bleeding skin, straining, struggling, but Victarion couldn't suppress the doubt that Euron was not putting all of his strength into it.
His anger was making him blind, he was too much beside himself to realise what he was about to do to another man, to his brother, too angry to dwell on how this was a sin in the eyes of every god, how it was unnatural. Everything about Euron was unnatural, so an unnatural punishment seemed only fitting.
He was blind, but not deaf, not deaf to the by now almost mad laughter, broken by choked coughs when Victarion thrust into him, but never stopping, just laughing, always laughing, and no matter how many times Victarion slammed his brother's face into the hard desk, he could see that knowing smirk before his eyes. And even as he ripped Euron open, he knew that he could not win.
His release was almost painful, it felt empty and worthless. Like a golden trinket he found in the sand after a battle, rather than ripping it from the throat of a dying man with his own blood-stained hands. He stepped back and let Euron slide to the ground, but even seeing his brother bloody and shivering brought no joy. Euron was breathless, his body shook with quiet noises that should have been sobs and were still little bouts of laughter. If it were any other man, Victarion would have thought he was hysterical, but it was Euron, always mocking him.
Always winning.

From:Ashara Dayne/Ned Stark, promises kept and hearts broken
Date: 2012-03-07 06:21 pm (UTC)Fill: Winter Song (Ashara/Ned)
Date: 2012-03-10 08:48 am (UTC)"What is it?" she asks, wiping at her mouth with a handkerchief, her anxiety only increasing as Elia's face folds into abject pity.
"Ashara..."
Tears rise in her throat, and Ashara curses them; she has never been a weeping woman and she will start now. "Elia, what has happened?"
"It is Ned," the princess begins, and Ashara tries not to think how odd it is to hear Elia say her beloved's name. Elia knows of Ned only through whispered stories and secrets and, like when they were girls, Ashara has only ever found support in Elia's presence.
"Has he...Is he...Was there a battle?"
"No," Elia manages. Clasping her hand over Ashara's, her brown eyes wet with sympathetic tears, she reveals, "Ned Stark wed Catelyn Tully a fortnight ago. He honored his brother's betrothal."
For a moment Ashara goes completely numb, unable to feel anything, her hearing and vision gone as the words sink in. Ned, her Ned, has wed Hoster Tully's daughter, is someone else's husband now; there will be no wedding for them, no life after Rhaegar puts down the rebellion and the world is right again. Now, when the war is done, Ned will return to Winterfell with his Tully wife, and she will be sent back to Starfall with their bastard.
"Ashara," Elia whispers, softly brushing Ashara's dark hair from her clammy forehead, but Ashara only shakes her head, a silent assurance she is will fine, she will be live. She is not the first woman who has lost the man she loves to another, not the first woman who will bear a child with the name "Sand."
She rises from her chair, crossing to the window and staring out at King's Landing. Ashara rests her hands on her stomach, already gently swelling beneath her gown, and the child she considered her wolf cub has now become a star. A bastard he may be, but with the blood of Houses Stark and Dayne in his veins, Ashara knows her son will grow to be someone great.
"I think I shall return home," Ashara states matter-of-factly.
She travels by ship to Starfall, stopping at the Water Gardens to bring news of Elia to Doran and Oberyn, and, as the warm winds scatter her hair, Ashara feels the child inside her stir.
I would not have liked the North anyway, she decides, staring out at all the beauty Dorne has to offer.

Date: 2012-03-07 06:24 pm (UTC)FILL: Elia/Oberyn | heart's desire, R
Date: 2012-03-07 11:34 pm (UTC)She had been beautiful in Dorne, beautiful and young, vivid and alive. They had smiled together, laughed, but all their touches had been innocent. She had been beautiful and she had been destined for someone else, these were things Oberyn understood. He had not wanted to make the marriage more painful or more difficult for either of them. So he'd smiled and laughed and run his fingers through her hair and complimented her but never kissed her lips or caressed her shoulders, her hips, her breasts, the way he might have.
But, after the marriage and the first child and the way Rhaegar Targaryen never even looked at her, things had changed. On the balcony of her private bedchamber, Elia had stood, staring blankly, and Oberyn had stood behind her, too close, and felt the terrible weight of her sadness.
"You are beautiful," he says, "more beautiful than this place," and he runs his hands over her shoulders as he says, "I do not know how you can bear it." She smiles a little then and it hits him just how much she's changed. In Dorne, she had smiled easily but the only time he'd seen her smile since he'd arrived at the Red Keep had been when she'd first caught sight of him - and that smile had faded soon enough.
Still, she changes under his hands, she leans back into them, her face lights up and she is flooded with natural grace. She becomes herself again, he thinks, when she laughs and pushes him back onto her bed. She kisses him with the kind of abandon she'd had when they'd played foolish, experimental games, before either of them had known what it had meant. And, for a while, when they're together, she becomes the girl she'd been before she'd married. It isn't the same when he sees her attending to her husband, bedecked with all the finery of a queen, and she can barely even muster a smile to return his own at banquets and tourneys; but, when he folds her in his arms or traces patterns on her bare skin, she is Elia of Dorne again.

Stannis/Jon: fantasies
Date: 2012-03-07 11:43 pm (UTC)FILL: Stannis/Jon | and waked half dead with nothing | ASOS spoilers| R
Date: 2012-03-09 08:36 pm (UTC)___
The first time Jon has a dream about Stannis, the king is offering him the one thing he's always wanted. It's a terrible dream. Stannis says that he will give Jon Winterfell, if Jon will only agree to his conditions. Jon accepts and awakes terrified of himself.
In his waking hours, he rejects Stannis Baratheon's offer. He sees the anger in Stannis' face and he feels the ache of something he will never have but he does not change his mind.
He had hoped that would be the end of it, that Stannis would leave the Wall or perhaps that Janos Slynt would have him beheaded after all, but he is made Lord Commander of the Night's Watch and he finds himself face-to-face with Stannis every day. Every day, they have a new argument; and, near every night, Jon has a new dream.
At first, he dreams of arguing, of winning or losing, of Stannis asking for the Wall or asking for men or gold, always asking for implausible things. Sometimes, Jon is tricked into giving them to him, in the dream. Sometimes, he argues and wins. But every night they are struggling, wrestling, more vicious and animal than they ever are in the cold light of day.
Then he dreams that Stannis Baratheon assaults him. He can't remember what the argument was, in that dream, probably it was about Winterfell - the dreams were always worst when they were about Winterfell - but it doesn't matter when Stannis' hands grasp his shoulders and push him backwards until he stumbles and finds himself pressed against the edge of his desk. And he thinks that Stannis Baratheon kisses him and that Stannis' hands find their way under his clothes. He tries to wake himself up (he remembers trying to) but he can't and he feels like he's drowning and he doesn't fight it as much as he should.
He doesn't know when most of the dreams become like this but, after a time, they do. The nights when he doesn't dream at all are a relief and it worries him how often he wakes up and finds himself palming his cock, knowing - even when he can't remember - what he must have dreamed of.
The dreams are mostly of Stannis bearing down on him, of big hands pressing him down and finding tender places on his skin. Sometimes he dreams of Stannis' hands on his shoulders, urging him downwards until he kneels, of Stannis' fingers in his hair as he kneels.
He tries not to think of the dreams when he sees Stannis in his waking hours but, sometimes, when he argues with Stannis on some petty question of policy, he remembers something that he never should have thought of at all. When he meets Stannis' eyes and sees their intensity, he remembers the things those eyes had urged him to do in his sleeping hours. He can't help but think, whenever he loses to Stannis in debate, that he might have been able to marshal a better argument, if he hadn't noticed the size of Stannis' hand when he'd slammed it on the table.
Still, he can't escape from it, the way they go down together in his sleep, the places he imagines finding Stannis' hands. And he swallows it as best he can - but it never goes away.

Date: 2012-03-11 07:25 am (UTC)The bandage wrapped around her husband’s (not brother, she stopped thinking of him as that long ago) arm is conspicuous even against his pale skin, with the wrapping darkened slightly with blood. He cut himself on the throne again this morning, slicing the flesh of his arm apart with one violent gesture. She was there, just off to the side, and sat silent as the maesters attended him. She filtered out his cries of pain and indignation and focused on the murmurs of the crowd, the whispers and doubts that they could not keep silent. It upset her to hear them react in such a way and disturbed her that she found herself somewhat in sympathy.
But anyone could see that bandage, even in this closed room. It is what accompanies it that requires a keener eye, and that’s what draws her focus: the faded scars that dot her husbands’ body in a confused, crisscrossing, pattern. Some of them are light, scratches really, the majority of these caused by her nails. The deeper ones though, those were all inflicted by the throne.
It cut Viserys the first time he sat upon it. Rhagaer had taken it after the failed Rebellion, but the Stark girl’s death had cast a pale over his supposed victory. His love dead, his wife dead, his heirs dead, he only ever seemed to be playing a role.
Dany had been promised to him soon after, but a sudden sickness took Rhagaer before she reached her thirteenth nameday. That was the official narrative, of course, and the singers had spun it into a tale for the ages—the prince who died of a broken heart. A kingdom, they all sang, could not make up for a lover’s smile.
Dany was young, but she was far from ignorant. On the night he died her brother had been well enough at supper, during which Viserys kept constantly refilling his goblet. A week later, as she stood beside Viserys watching the pyre burn, she could not help but notice that the bright fever burning in his eyes was not a reflection. She had held her tongue throughout all of this and retreated inside, where it was safe.
The next day, Viserys got his crown. When the blood began to the show through the fine silver tunic he wore Daenerys shut her eyes tight, not wishing to see the crowd’s reaction. She was bound to this man now and she could feel the cut in her heart. In an instance, they had both been branded as weak.
The blood had dried when they married an hour later, in the Great Sept. Viserys had placed their mother’s crown on her head and smiled broadly. She still remembered that smile clearly. There had been something genuine about it, and she had smiled back at him for the first time she could remember.
But that moment had been fleeting, and he had cut himself more as the years went by, while the lords whispered behind his back and Dany silently watched.
Watched and hoped. The throne was rejecting him, just as it had rejected their father--that much was clear. Whether the gathered lords and ladies would do the same was hard to tell, and it was harder still to know if they placed her on the same level as her husband. She had birthed a son and he had survived, but he was sickly and weak, his blood too thin. She wondered sometimes if she would live to see him cut his self on the same iron throne.
Sometimes she would practice what she would need to teach her son. She would sit on the throne, the dragon crown heavy on her head, as careful as could be. She had never seen her own blood flow on that throne, though she knew it would if Viserys ever caught her there.
Back in the dark bedchamber, she runs her finger down one long scar on her husband’s back, and tries to steady her hand to keep him from waking.

From:Stannis/Davos or Stannis, Davos, Alternate POV
Date: 2012-03-08 07:31 pm (UTC)Fill: Stannis/Davos from Ned's POV (hints of Robert/Ned): Making You Smile, 1/2
Date: 2012-03-09 04:34 am (UTC)Ned is quiet as Robert roars one toast after the other, repeatedly interrupting himself to tell stories about his own exploits. They have won, yes, but one thing still bothers Ned as he looks through the large hall, frowning until he finally sees Stannis Baratheon. Ned thinks that Lord Stannis should have a place of honour at the king's table, as the commander of his fleet, the man to whom they owe a large part of their victory. But even if Robert invited him to his side, Stannis refused, and he looks like he is trying to stay as far away from his brother as possible without leaving the room.
It is hard to blame him. In all the king's accounts about the glorious battles of the day, Stannis is the one man Robert seems to forget with impressive consistency. Ned resists the urge to ask Robert what they would have done if Victarion Greyjoy and the Iron Fleet had not been held up, if instead of storming Pyke they would have had to face the Ironborn in a sea battle. He knows it is not Robert's hammer that has crushed this rebellion, but Stannis' Fury and the rest of the fleet, but he doesn't say anything. Instead he waits until Robert is too far in his cups to notice anyone but the giggling redhead on his lap, then starts to make his way through the crowd towards Lord Stannis. Someone should pay the man some respect for his deeds.
But as Ned approaches, he notices that the king's brother is not alone. A common-looking man in plain clothes is sitting by his side, in what looks like the calmest corner of the large hall. For a moment Ned wonders why Lord Stannis Baratheon is talking to some servant or sailor, until he sees the small pouch around the man's neck. The detail, and the story that Robert had told him about it, is so odd that he still remembers it, even years after he had first been introduced to Ser Davos Seaworth, when Stannis had brought the man back with him to King's Landing after his conquest of Dragonstone.
Ned remembers a reserved, quiet, almost shy man, though that shyness had seemed born out of a commoner's reserve towards great lords rather than out of any natural disposition. He does not appear shy now, sitting so close to Lord Stannis that their shoulders brush, leaning in so they can talk in peace despite the noise in the hall. Ned is too far away to hear any words - nor would he have felt comfortable spying on them - but Ser Davos seems to talk most of the time, while Stannis' replies are curt.
It strikes Ned as curious to see Stannis looking so comfortable. He knows Robert's younger brother as a man who seems to despise most people's company, who flees meetings almost immediately when he's not needed anymore, who answers even polite questions only with frowns and glares. Ned had tried to talk to him about his wife and his daughter when they had last met, but Stannis had barely said more than two sentences to him.
Yet he does not seem to mind Ser Davos' company. The knight grabs a flask of wine from one of the passing servant maids and fills Stannis' cup. Ned isn't surprised to see the man protest. Robert had had mocked Stannis earlier that evening for drinking water. That bloody fool doesn't even get drunk when there's reason to celebrate! But his protests are ignored with a smile and a toast, and Ned has rarely been more surprised than when he sees Stannis relent, raise his glass to return the toast, and drink. Ser Davos leans in even closer, until his lips almost touch Stannis' ear, then whispers something -
And Stannis laughs. It was such a short, odd sound that Ned wonders if he misheard, but the smile lingers on Stannis' lips for a second longer than the laughter itself. It is the first time in his life that Ned sees Stannis Baratheon with anything other than a frown on his face.
