After the first round of [livejournal.com profile] got_exchange we had a surprisingly successful comment fic meme going for a while (here's a list of all the fics that were written last time), so I thought it might be fun to do this again. (Like last time, it's posted on the mod account journal because I don't want to enable anonymous comments on the exchange community.)

I changed the layout to one that still supports comment titles. I hope it works for everyone. If there are any problems, please let me know.

A couple of rules, or rather guidelines:

- please include the pairing/character (and maybe a short prompt/kink) in the comment title - both for prompts and for fills.
- there are both show and book fans on this comm, so please warn for book spoilers beyond AGOT in the comment title.
- anonymous comments are enabled, but I'd appreciate if we kept them to a minimum. If you absolutely want to go anon, okay, but I'd rather we kept this as non-anonymous as possible.
- all prompts are welcome: smut, gen, romance, fluff, angst, het, slash ... anything goes.
- and the usual: be civil, no character/pairing bashing, no kink shaming etc.

It's perfectly fine to repost prompts from the last comment fic meme or from the exchange.

As with any kink meme, this is only fun if people also fill prompts, not if there are only requests.

Filled prompts:
Jaime/Cersei: first time
Stannis/Davos: "like sailors, swimming in the sound of it (dashed to pieces)"

He opens his mouth, he wants to tell her, tell her that he had ridden in the night to join Robb’s side, that his sworn brothers had pulled him back and it has haunted him forever since, that he would have died at his brother’s side and never betrayed him, that he is not another Theon Turncloak. He wants to ask about his brother the king, how the crown sat his head, if he took the lessons their father had given them both, if he had been happy, in those moments before he fell.

Her eyes are empty on him, expansive like the sky beyond the Wall, there is something closed up deep inside her, he thinks, whatever she has locked away, her memories and pain and fury, whatever she has had to put aside to keep going, to keep moving, to keep living. We must all do what we can to go on.

He does not ask his questions, he takes pity, it is enough that he is the ghost of his father, he has no desire to crack open that box she has locked herself into to hold herself together.

Jon clears his throat. “But ruins they remain, my lady – you cannot stay here.”

“And where would you have me go, Lord Snow?” she asks, and there is a lilting, mocking note to her voice. “Shall I go to Riverrun, to serve as a hostage to my uncle’s good behavior? Or to King’s Landing to give my head as a gift to the boy king? Or shall I accompany you back to the Wall, I am certain you have sorely missed the joy of my company these years past.”

He wets his lips, uncertain. “It is not safe here.”

“It is not safe anywhere,” she replies hotly, and there is a brief spark in those eyes dulled and deadened. “And where else would my girls go, now that they are lost in the world? If they are alive, they will come here. They will come home, such as it is now.”

Jon takes a step closer, and sees her eyes are damp, Catelyn Stark is not a woman prone to tears and yet the last time he saw her she had wept for Bran and now she weeps for the rest, for all those lost to her, and he cannot help it; he reaches for her hand, clasping it between his gloved ones. Her mouth twitches, he can see it there, the innate resistance, but she does not pull away. There is so much evil in the world that we are too weary to fight amongst ourselves.

“You cannot remain here. Winterfell will be seized and you will be killed before you see either of them again. If you do not freeze or starve to death, first,” he decides firmly (there is a part of her, a large part that he thinks is dead already, pieces of her heart buried with his father and with Robb and Bran and Rickon, and parts lost with the girls, and he wonders if she would believe him if he said his is much the same). “Come. We will find something other than this folly.”

“Why does it matter to you?” she asks, incredulous, as he leads her – fairly drags her – from the ruins, the ashes she will pass to the few children that remain.

He pauses, wondering the same; for all that she never spared him a kindness, he did not wish Catelyn Stark ill but nor did he think he would bestir himself for her in her need. He decides, after a moment, to answer honestly. “It would matter to Robb. And to Father. And Bran, and Rickon, and if they do live, it will matter a great deal to Sansa and Arya, and they will have need of you.”

“They live,” she answers softly, pleadingly, her voice catches and her eyes seek reassurance. He could practically see it then, the break in that armor she wears like a second skin, it is almost a visible entity. He is suddenly no longer pulling her and her stride matches his again. “They must.” They must, they are all that is left for us, for the North…

He does not answer, but holds the hope close.

Wonderful fic!

Oh, how I wish something like this would have happened! A flicker of acceptance between these two, of reconciliation. As much as I love Catelyn, as much as I understand where she's coming from with her resentment of Robb, it always made me slightly angry at her. He was a child, after all, and totally faultless.

And it's so JON to refuse Winterfell so that Sansa can have it, even though she wasn't even the closest to him. And so him to offer protection to Cat. Cat, who still has hope for the girls. It would have been wonderful, Cat still alive, still having hope. But GRRM is a cruel, cruel man.

Thank you! I'm so interested in the idea of these two meeting again after all the suffering their family has been through, especially after the Red Wedding. I can't see them ever really having AFFECTION, but I do think they would have been too tired of fighting against those who really wish them ill to have active resentment. I feel like it would have been enough that they loved the same people, even if they never loved each other, for them to have a sort of...grudging peace.

Catelyn's resentment of Jon is certainly a fault of hers, and it definitely isn't fair. However, I understand where her feelings come from and even why she chose to take out her feelings on Jon rather than on Ned. Again - not fair or right, but I do get it, and I hate when some fans blow what their relationship was out of proportion. (Also, in rereading I have to admit that I found Jon pretty annoying in Game of Thrones, especially up until he met Sam (really, Jon, you asked Tyrion what he knows about being a bastard aka feeling like an outcast? and you asked WHY HE READS? and you called a seven year old insipid?) XD)

I love Jon's steadfast response to Stannis's offer - "Winterfell belongs to my sister Sansa." And I do think he would feel some sort of obligation to help her, not because of any affection towards her, but again, because of his affection for the people that they both loved and who loved both of them. I really miss Cat and her POV chapters. :(

Thank you for your wonderful comment! :D

THIS IS PEFECT!! (Y)

I love how loaded and riddled with the past everything about their interaction is, and how--despite everything--Jon still has that lingering desire for affection from this woman who was so wonderful a mother to all his siblings.

&& the idea that whatever ill-filling may have existed between them once seems so insignifigant in light of the kind of hate and harm they've endured breaks my heart (in the best of ways of course hehe) <333

really beautifully done, thank you for such a lovely fill!! :D

Yay, I'm so glad you liked it!! :D I always thought it was interesting in the series how Catelyn sneaks into Jon's thoughts sometimes and for the most part, except for when he specifically brought up (her discussion with Robb), Catelyn doesn't really think about Jon. I definitely think he still has that deep down desire to have her affections, to be considered one of her children.

And I'm glad you thought it fit because even before this prompt, I've thought of these two meeting and I totally think that while there would never be AFFECTION, there would be a sort of grudging truce because they don't like/love each other, but they loved the same people and that's enough after everything they've been through. ( :( :( )

Thanks for the lovely comment!!

this is the story I was waiting for!

I love their relationship in the books (and in the show). Of course they sort of "hate" each other but there's more than that. Catelyn choose to hate Jon instead of Ned which is totally understandable. Plus she is sort of "jealous" that he look like Ned and her children don't.
For Jon part I don't think he hate her but at the beginning he is still a child and she make him feel like everything in his life was unfair (which is not really the case). And somehow I don't think he really understand why she hate him so much and he only want her to accept him as her own child...
I have to admit that I don't really like Catelyn as a character but when it come to Jon I understand^^

Anyway I hope they will meet again in the books (If they make it alive that would be really good already XD) cause I kinda feel like it would be brilliant and heartbreaking...

Thank you anyway for this! this is so beautiful! Made me cry as much as when I was reading the books

Thank you so much! <3 (And sorry for the delayed response!) Catelyn is my most favorite character but I definitely appreciate that while you don't really like her, you can give a fair look at her relationship with Jon! :D Thank you for your lovely comments, I'm so glad you enjoyed.

This is great. I would love to read Catelyn's reaction to R+L=J, in this or any context.
