Comment fic meme #2
Mar. 5th, 2012 03:28 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
After the first round of
got_exchange we had a surprisingly successful comment fic meme going for a while (here's a list of all the fics that were written last time), so I thought it might be fun to do this again. (Like last time, it's posted on the mod account journal because I don't want to enable anonymous comments on the exchange community.)
I changed the layout to one that still supports comment titles. I hope it works for everyone. If there are any problems, please let me know.
A couple of rules, or rather guidelines:
- please include the pairing/character (and maybe a short prompt/kink) in the comment title - both for prompts and for fills.
- there are both show and book fans on this comm, so please warn for book spoilers beyond AGOT in the comment title.
- anonymous comments are enabled, but I'd appreciate if we kept them to a minimum. If you absolutely want to go anon, okay, but I'd rather we kept this as non-anonymous as possible.
- all prompts are welcome: smut, gen, romance, fluff, angst, het, slash ... anything goes.
- and the usual: be civil, no character/pairing bashing, no kink shaming etc.
It's perfectly fine to repost prompts from the last comment fic meme or from the exchange.
As with any kink meme, this is only fun if people also fill prompts, not if there are only requests.

Multiple fills are of course welcome.
FILL: Roose/Theon (with bonus Ramsay/Theon): Bad Blood, Part I
Date: 2012-03-07 05:13 am (UTC)“I remember you at Winterfell,” Bolton says, his lips curved in what might be a smile. “You were such a good little hostage.”
Theon thinks to flare at that, but he’s been taught humility at Ramsay’s hands. He knows better, so he keeps his silence. After all, despite their situation, Lord Bolton has been nothing but courteous, although his pleasantries, when dissected, have an unpleasant aftertaste, and in many cases, a sharp edge. So he picks at the food that has been served to him, refusing the wine in a vague sense of self preservation. Poison would not be beyond them, he thinks, and although he’s mostly been treated well, caution still seems to be the wiser path to trod. The split lip and the marks from the lash, hidden by the finery that he’s, for now, been permitted to keep, attest to that.
But Roose Bolton’s hands, thus far, have remained clean.
He is fastidious almost, Theon notes, watching his captor carefully dissect the undercooked meat on his plate, almost mechanically partaking of the evenly-sliced bites, sopping the blood that runs from the flesh with a neat corner of bread.
“I had Winterfell,” Theon muses, to himself.
Bolton nods, fingers toying with the stem of his glass. “Far too lofty a prize for a boy to hold.”
When he takes his leave, Theon does not know what to think. The soft words and courtly manners are so unlike Ramsay’s coarseness that he allows himself to think that perhaps Roose Bolton is a man of reason. It might be possible to convince him, not to release him, but to preserve him.
It is a mistake, of course.
*
“I hear that my father has taken to dining with you, Turncloak.” Ramsay enters the room, wrapped in another of his gaudy cloaks, the overcompensation of an ersatz lord. Theon winces, because some things cut too close, and in the back of his mind, he recalls another young man, foolishly reaching to impress a man hewn of stone, wrapping himself in velvet and gold. The result: scorn and a broken chain. But this was another life, really, and his mind drifts back to the present, which is far uglier.
Ramsay sits next to Theon, who’s still slouching in the reed chair, one of two that he’s been permitted in his modest cell. It creaks under his weight, and Ramsay leans forward, an insinuating expression on his face. “And now he’s going to fuck his pig of a wife to make heirs.” His fleshly lips curled with distaste. “Not that I’m worried about that. Although you should be, grinning like a fool.”
Theon has been smiling nervously, recalling what sorts of things that he’s endured at the other man’s pleasure thus far, thinking on the bruises and the scratches, remembering the feel of his cheek against cold stone, the dampness from the dungeon wall moistening his cheek as Ramsay enveloped him in an iron grip, the shame, which was greater than the pain, as Bolton’s Bastard made a saltwife of him, and the hot tears that he’d allowed to fall when at last, almost mercifully, Ramsay, bored, had taken his leave.
“Like a fool,” Ramsay repeats, licking his lips, “in your little lord’s finery. My father has been feeding and dressing you; he might as well fuck you too.” The thought of this amuses him and he begins to laugh, a horrible braying sound, and when a clammy hand lands on Theon’s knee, squeezing it insinuatingly, he fights the urge to shudder. He does not want this, far from it, but he is wise enough to know that it is best to play along when Ramsay Bolton plies his warped affections.
FILL: Roose/Theon (with bonus Ramsay/Theon): Bad Blood, Part II
Date: 2012-03-07 05:14 am (UTC)“Oh, you’d like that, wouldn’t you…Theon?” He makes the name sound indecent. As Ramsay finds purchase, fingers brushing against his prisoner’s sex, Theon allows a sigh to escape. He does not quail when Ramsay’s lips and teeth meet his throat, nor does he flinch when scrabbling fingers take hold of him, stroking him insinuatingly.
It’s not that bad, he thinks. It could be worse.
To think this though, is not a mistake.
*
The next time that he sees Roose Bolton, he’s brought into his solar by armed men, marched like a common prisoner, but the indignation at such treatment slightly fades when he notes the rich surroundings, nothing like Winterfell of course, but palatial compared to the modest room that he’s been permitted, and a welcome change. It’s warm; a fire roars before him, and he’s shocked at Bolton’s indulgence. He seems ascetic almost, barely partaking of meat or mead, taking no interest in the courtly sort of entertainments that other aspiring lords might cultivate.
His only pleasure, thinks Theon, seems to be this child bride who he’s hidden away somewhere. There is no evidence of a woman’s touch in the room. Wolfskins line the floor, more practical than ornamental, and the only real decoration is a faded tapestry, figures clad in pink on a battlefield, wielding pikes and bearing curiously curved knives. It hangs behind Roose Bolton as he sits in a well-worn chair, staring into the flames.
“Theon Greyjoy,” he says, barely audible above the pops and cracks of the kindling, or the whine of the wind outside of the holdfast. “I hear my son has been holding congress with you.” There is an unspoken, almost pregnant snarl of irony in his voice, although his expression is carefully neutral. He gestures for Theon to sit in the smaller chair opposite him, and he of course obeys.
“Of a sort,” Theon responds, fighting to keep the blood from rushing to his cheeks.
“An unwholesome sort,” Bolton responds. Theon feels as though he is probably mistaken, but he believes that he detects a note of sympathy, however subtle, in the other man’s voice. “Ramsay does not comprehend how far he goes, I fear. Then again,” he sighs, almost to himself, “it is bad blood, and bad blood will always out.”
Theon nods, unable to do much else but agree. “I am sorry,” he says, and the thought, perhaps sympathy misplaced, is genuine.
Lord Bolton nods, and they are both silent for a while. Then Theon breaks it. “He is unnatural. What he’s done to me-” But he breaks off when he sees the disapproving expression on Bolton’s face. “I mean, there are some things that a man does not do with another.” His face is now burning. “Things that would have earned a sword in the belly on Pyke. Things that would have cast men out, had they been spoken of. I don’t understand-”
Roose Bolton speaks then, and his voice is surprisingly silky. “I take it that he has indulged certain…proclivities…in your company?”
Theon nods, not wishing to elaborate.
“Certain matters of the flesh?” Bolton frowns. “He should take care. It would not do if such matters were spoken of abroad.”
“So you understand then?” Theon feels a slight glimmer of hope, however tenuous, when the other man nods. It only magnifies when Lord Bolton clasps his hand. While is touch is not as unpleasant as Ramsay’s, it is still distasteful, but Theon does not pull away.
FILL: Roose/Theon (with bonus Ramsay/Theon): Bad Blood, Part III
Date: 2012-03-07 05:14 am (UTC)“Bad blood,” Bolton says again, stroking Theon’s cheek. “And I am the boy’s father, after all.”
Theon stares past him at the wall hanging, as the reality of his situation finally begins to dawn on him, and then he realizes exactly what is going on in the scene behind Bolton’s head. His ancestors, capering about gleefully, clad in fresh skins, the vanquished in ruins at their feet, red and awful.
It’s terrifying. But so is the knife that Lord Bolton brandishes almost lovingly and so is the peaceful smile on his face.
Re: FILL: Roose/Theon (with bonus Ramsay/Theon): Bad Blood, Part III
Date: 2012-03-07 02:04 pm (UTC)Thank you so much for writing this. :D It's like you're constantly trying to make me happy here. I just realised that I have no House Creepy icon. :(
I'm always in a Bolton mood.
Date: 2012-03-07 03:25 pm (UTC)You need a house Creepy icon, a pink squid or something. jesatria posted some Bolton icons in valyrian_forged a while back as well.
Re: I'm always in a Bolton mood.
Date: 2012-03-07 03:30 pm (UTC)I need to go look for them, then. I have several Baratheon icons (still need a proper Stannis icon once the season starts) and one for Sansa, but no Greyjoys and Boltons.

Date: 2012-03-07 03:55 pm (UTC)Haha, I know how you feel. I have two papers to write in the next three weeks, but all I do is write fic and ramble about fandom with people.
Re: I'm always in a Bolton mood.
Date: 2012-03-07 04:13 pm (UTC)If you're looking for something in that vein in the meantime, Marquise on AO3 wrote a short fic about Roose/Theon for me in a fill. It's called "Be of some use," and it's great.
Re: I'm always in a Bolton mood.
Date: 2012-03-07 04:15 pm (UTC)Thanks for the rec. I'll have a look at it later. :)
FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-08 05:14 am (UTC)It began with an interrogation.
“Tell me about Robb Stark.”
Theon remembered a bright-haired boy who, instead of quailing under the weight of the crown, assumed the mantle with the resigned honor of his father. But before that, he had merely been a boy. A brother, almost. Maybe more than that, if awkward lingering glances and fumblings in the darkness counted for anything. To Theon, they no longer did, not that, if they were to meet again, Robb would do less than strike the head from his shoulders.
Just as his father would. Just as, perhaps, he deserved.
But he was Bolton’s man now, or at least he aspired to be, assuming that, if he were just useful enough, he might be more than a hostage come again. Not that Bolton would release him. But he might give him an occupation. He might call off the mad dog that he named his heir.
Theon had become quite the expert in self-denial.
It was an elaborate lie that extended beyond his traitorous embroideries of minutia that he recalled while sitting in Roose Bolton’s rooms, drinking his wines, eating his food. It was not pleasant company, but it afforded him the luxury of pretending that he was still the prince that he’d been, instead of the turncloak he’d become. He knew that Bolton knew that he prevaricated, that he embellished details that, in the grand scheme of things, were meaningless.
He doubted that Bolton cared. But he wondered sometimes why the man bothered with the charade.
One evening, after detailing what little he knew of Stark battle plans, Roose Bolton beckoned him closer.
“On your knees,” he said softly, almost gently, and although he did not comprehend, Theon knelt before him. He felt a hand on his shoulder, positioning him gently yet firmly, and when it travelled to his face, tipping his chin upwards, he was even more confused.
“What would you have me do, my Lord?” he asked, peering up through the shadows.
“What do you do with my son?” Bolton’s voice was even, but underneath, there was a note of amusement.
“I…obey Lord Ramsay,” he said, struggling to get out the words, to say it properly. “I…do as he bids.”
Bolton laughed softly. “And you will do as I bid.” He guided Theon’s hands to the front of his breeches. “I have had enough of your bowing and scraping. It is high time that you use your tongue for something more useful than ingratiation.”
“What of your lady wife?” The words were out before Theon could stop himself, and inwardly, he readied for a blow that did not quite come.
Bolton did not react immediately, merely staring at Theon as if he’d grown a second head. He was not used to being contradicted. “It is not your place to question an order, Greyjoy.”
Theon hung his head, cheeks flaming. “I merely thought,” words dying on his tongue as Bolton’s cold eyes met his.
“You are not here to think,” Bolton said. “I grow weary of waiting.” His hands pressed on Theon’s shoulders, pulling him close, and while Theon readied himself he focused on small details: the pink signet ring on Roose Bolton’s finger, the way that his hands firmly grasped Theon’s hair, the feel of the rushes beneath his knees.
He tried then, also, to think of Robb, but it did not help if at all.
When he took Bolton in his mouth, the other man did not react. He was calm and collected, even when Theon dared to bare his teeth a bit, almost forgetting himself. And when Bolton’s breath quickened, his body at last betraying his control, Theon felt himself stiffening in response, with the knowledge that, however base, he might still retain some power.
But it was over all too soon and Theon was left to lie on the floor, his frustration evident on his face, in his crabbed position. Roose Bolton, always observant, noted his hardness, visible through his ill-gotten finery, and for the first time that evening, smiled.
“My Lord,” Theon said, his voice barely audible in the pressing silence.
“You may go. I require nothing further this evening.”
And he was left to gather himself, to shamble out of his Lord’s chambers, where his Lord’s man waited to take him below again, where he will wait until it is time again to become another man’s plaything.
Re: FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-08 05:20 am (UTC)This is wonderful. I love Theon's thoughts about Robb, and Roose's creepy little laugh always makes me happy. I think what I love most here is the difference between disobeying Ramsay and disobeying Roose - Ramsay gets angry, Roose stays calm and just demands, and people give him what he wants because You Do Not Piss Off Roose Bolton. Oh, and cocky Theon who lets himself think for just a second that he still has some power was a great detail.
You're making me love Roose/Theon waaaay more than I should. That's a good thing.
Re: FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-08 05:41 am (UTC)I thought a lot about the Harrenhall Arya interactions when I wrote this. It's kind of the same situation, only more extreme.
Re: FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-08 03:52 pm (UTC)You know, it's a good thing Arya was 8 years old in Harrenhall. If she had been a young woman at the time and not a little girl, I would ship Roose/Arya so hard ... House Creepy, what have you done to me. ;)
Re: FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-08 03:54 pm (UTC)And likewise. I want to write teen Arya/Roose in Harrenhall. After all, who does he order to remove the leeches? I should stop now because I'm creeping myself out.
I can't write Arya though, so maybe it's a good thing.
Re: FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-08 03:57 pm (UTC)It would be hot ... if she was older. As it is, it's the bad kind of creepy.
Me neither. It's all for the better, just like the fact that neither of us can draw and spam the world with ridiculous House Creepy doodles.
Re: FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-08 09:35 pm (UTC)It would be hot if she were, as they say, a woman grown. and I'm considering writing this AU and I realize that I have a serious problem here.
Re: FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-08 10:04 pm (UTC)Nah, it's not a serious problem, it's just the eternal appeal of porn. Blame Roose.
Re: FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-09 12:48 am (UTC)Oh, that Roose. I should punish him and write Roose/Brienne AU baby fic. That'll show him. And creep me out.
Re: FILL Take 2: Roose/Theon (hints of Theon/Robb), Another man's amusement
Date: 2012-03-09 01:03 am (UTC)That's a horrifying idea. Please don't ever do that. oO
