Comment fic meme #2

After the first round of [livejournal.com profile] got_exchange we had a surprisingly successful comment fic meme going for a while (here's a list of all the fics that were written last time), so I thought it might be fun to do this again. (Like last time, it's posted on the mod account journal because I don't want to enable anonymous comments on the exchange community.)

I changed the layout to one that still supports comment titles. I hope it works for everyone. If there are any problems, please let me know.

A couple of rules, or rather guidelines:

- please include the pairing/character (and maybe a short prompt/kink) in the comment title - both for prompts and for fills.
- there are both show and book fans on this comm, so please warn for book spoilers beyond AGOT in the comment title.
- anonymous comments are enabled, but I'd appreciate if we kept them to a minimum. If you absolutely want to go anon, okay, but I'd rather we kept this as non-anonymous as possible.
- all prompts are welcome: smut, gen, romance, fluff, angst, het, slash ... anything goes.
- and the usual: be civil, no character/pairing bashing, no kink shaming etc.

It's perfectly fine to repost prompts from the last comment fic meme or from the exchange.

As with any kink meme, this is only fun if people also fill prompts, not if there are only requests.

Filled prompts:
Jaime/Cersei: first time
Stannis/Davos: "like sailors, swimming in the sound of it (dashed to pieces)"

FILL: Cersei/Stannis, seduction fail; "Persuasion"; PG (Part Two)

[identity profile] lainemontgomery.livejournal.com 2012-03-13 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
“It is a pleasure to see you again, dear brother,” she begins, shifting over in her seat very slightly until her elbow barely brushes Stannis’s. “The court has missed you.”

“I’m afraid I cannot say the same, Your Grace,” he replies stiffly, eyes narrowing in Robert’s direction. The King focuses his attention on the shapely rear end of a comely servant girl, and Cersei watches Stannis wince as his brother’s hand extends to pinch the soft flesh.

When the Master of Ships glances back at her, Cersei takes care to lower her lashes and blush prettily, exhibiting all of the shame that her husband lacks.

“Pay him no mind,” she says softly, inching just a tiny bit closer. “You know how he can be.”

“I do.” When she reaches past him for a carafe of wine, her golden hair brushing over his shoulder, she feels Stannis flinch. A glance across the table at Jaime, twitching with pent-up laughter, and she settles back down into her seat.

“It’s why he needs sensible men around him, men with good heads on their shoulders...” She goes to refill Stannis’s wine glass, only to find that it has not been touched since the feast began.

Her foot creeps toward him under the table, continuing until her ankle brushes against his. Stannis redirects his attention from Robert, whipping his bald head around to give her an incredulous stare. But Cersei just keeps smiling.

“Men like you are a valued commodity here, my lord...whether or not my husband agrees.” She lifts her glass and raises her eyebrows- she can hear him grinding his teeth as he watches her-

Stannis raises his glass just for a moment, clinking it against hers, before placing it back down on the table without taking so much as a sip.

Finally, he drops his head slightly and hisses- “Lord Tywin has already sent me a raven about the situation in Lannisport. I will take his concerns under advisement and act accordingly.”

That startles Cersei enough to straighten her posture and prompt the following- “Whoever said anything about Lannisport, brother?”

All she receives in reply is a harsh sweep of dark eyes over her face, that ascetic, contemptuous glare that can make even the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms feel like the lowest harlot in the whorehouse- she feels her cheeks burning, and her jaw clenches until her own teeth begin to grind together-

Stannis rises, offering her a jerky bow before moving down the table to speak with an unenthusiastic Renly. A rough cough-like sound catches Cersei’s attention; she looks up and fixes her eyes on a gleam of white and gold in the corner. Jaime has his forehead pressed against the wall, his shoulders shaking as he laughs and laughs.

Her fingers tighten around the stem of her goblet, and she considers how satisfying it would be to launch this one at Jaime’s head, then to grab Stannis’s untouched glass and fling it at the sullen, solemn, damnable Master of Ships.

But instead, she slumps down into her seat and drinks one glass of wine, then another, then another, trying and failing to rinse her mouth of the bitter taste of defeat.

This doesn't suck at all, it's perfect. :D I love how Cersei is trying to achieve something useful, but Stannis just looks right through her. And Jaime laughing his ass off is wonderful. And you did great with Stannis - how her advances just make him more uncomfortable, how he's completely deaf to her flattery, how he's polite in this really cold, awkward way.

All she receives in reply is a harsh sweep of dark eyes over her face, that ascetic, contemptuous glare that can make even the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms feel like the lowest harlot in the whorehouse- she feels her cheeks burning, and her jaw clenches until her own teeth begin to grind together-
I love this line more than I can possibly say. It's so in character for both of them, and I love how Stannis makes other people as uncomfortable as they make him. And Cersei drinking at the end is very nice foreshadowing.

Thank you so much for writing this. :D It's absolutely perfect. Stannis will probably run off to talk to Davos now and complain to him about the decadence of the court. ;)

SQUEEE!! I'm SO GLAD you thought it turned out okay. I actually had a really good time writing Stannis- who-da thunk?

In some ways, Cersei and Stannis are a match made in heaven- they're both absolute experts at making people uncomfortable.

(I'd love to see that dialogue between Stannis and Davos- companion story, perhaps? -wink wink- )

I'm not surprised, but then again I'm REALLY biased. ;)

They would have made the most despised king/queen couple ever. People would argue about which one of them makes them more uncomfortable. ;)

I'm afraid Stannis would just grind his teeth and grumble. But I'll see what i can do if I EVER manage to finish Stannis and Sansa's wedding night. They're taking their sweet time. -.-

I love this!! Oh Cersei, you try so hard. I like Jaime's amusement at her defeat too, exactly how a brother would be. Well done!!

Yeah, I just had to put Jaime in there. ;) I kind of love the idea of Cersei and Jaime having a few actual brother-sister moments- it just makes the nature of their relationship that much more screwed up (and therefore, more fascinating).

Thank you so much for reading and commenting!!

I absolutely loved this ;). The best part had to be Jaime laughing uncontrollably in the background.

And this passage: "Her fingers tighten around the stem of her goblet, and she considers how satisfying it would be to launch this one at Jaime’s head, then to grab Stannis’s untouched glass and fling it at the sullen, solemn, damnable Master of Ships."

This is so like Cersei, who can't stand being beaten at anything. You captured her character really well, for of course she'd take it as a challenge to use her charms to try and persuade Stannis of something.

That's our girl, always jumping into challenges without actually considering whether she's likely to fail or not. It's one of the reasons why I love Cersei so much, and why she's such a joy to write.

So glad to hear that you liked it- thank you for the lovely comment!

I have never laughed so much after reading a fic! I just know how Jaime must have felt. Here she is, all primed up to charm him and there he is, so very blunt and to the point that it is painful! Just lovely.

Heehee! I giggled a lot myself while writing it. ;) Poor Cersei. Thank you so much for the kind words!

Oh, this is brilliant and hilarious, especially Jaime's reaction and Cersei's frustrated fury.

Wonderful! As others have mentioned, I think my favorite part was Jaime laughing uncontrollably, his head pressed against the wall in the corner - I started giggling at that! XD I love that you gave Cersei an actual reason to attempt to seduce Stannis, and I LOVED all the little character details you put in - her going to refill his glass only to find it untouched, and then later her drinking glass after glass at wine (hinting at her later fondness for it).

Wonderfully funny, which isn't something we get often in this fandom - great job! :D

Jaime is such a troll. It is known.

It took me a while to think of a scenario- Cersei doesn't seduce people for no reason, and I was all "guhhh WHY would she try to charm STANNIS?!" I'm really glad that what I decided on made sense.

And yeah, ASOIAF comedy needs to be a thing! ;)

Thank you SO much for commenting, lovely!

I can see where Jaime would be amused. :D How can you seduce a lobster? Hee! Love Cersei's desire to toss the wine goblets. That feels so delightfully her.
