After the first round of

got_exchange we had a surprisingly successful comment fic meme going for a while (here's a list of all the fics that were written last time), so I thought it might be fun to do this again. (Like last time, it's posted on the mod account journal because I don't want to enable anonymous comments on the exchange community.)

I changed the layout to one that still supports comment titles. I hope it works for everyone. If there are any problems, please let me know.

A couple of rules, or rather guidelines:

- please include the pairing/character (and maybe a short prompt/kink) in the comment title - both for prompts and for fills.
- there are both show and book fans on this comm, so please warn for book spoilers beyond AGOT in the comment title.
- anonymous comments are enabled, but I'd appreciate if we kept them to a minimum. If you absolutely want to go anon, okay, but I'd rather we kept this as non-anonymous as possible.
- all prompts are welcome: smut, gen, romance, fluff, angst, het, slash ... anything goes.
- and the usual: be civil, no character/pairing bashing, no kink shaming etc.

It's perfectly fine to repost prompts from the last comment fic meme or from the exchange.

As with any kink meme, this is only fun if people also fill prompts, not if there are only requests.

“I have sent my son away and he has returned a Greenlander and a fool.”

Victarion shuddered at the bitterness in his brother’s voice. He and Balon sat together, conferring on the events of the day, Theon, the lost Prince home again, clad in silks and velvets like a woman, bedecking himself in golden finery like a whore from the mainland. Had Balon held his tongue, his younger brother would have sensed his disgust by the cords in his neck, standing tight with a finely tempered rage, and by his eyes, burning with disappointment, like coals alight in his bony face, their intensity only magnified by his sharp features. With a sigh, he drank deep from the clay goblet at his right hand, although the drink did not seem to improve his mood.

“Asha thinks him a fool, but well-intentioned.” Victarion tried to lighten the situation, however grim, but was not successful.

“Good intentions will not bring us the Iron Throne, nor Westeros.” Balon said grimly, and the matter was closed.

Balon’s quarters were black as pitch. An ascetic man by nature, he did not coddle himself with fripperies, using a single tallow candle by night until it dwindled to a nub, the flame flickering low and burning with an evil orange cast. He and his brother continued their conversation, only on much shallower terms.

“It was different then, when we were young,” Balon said, and Victarion could catch just the faintest hint of regret in his voice. “Men lived to serve, and knew their place, and did not dream of these tinpot kingdoms.”

“We always knew then what was expected of us,” Victarion agreed. His hand brushed his brother’s arm in the gloom.

“You were always faithful to me.” Balon reached out then, fingers decisive as he unbound Victarion’s hair, the black streaked with grey falling loose to his shoulders. “You have always been faithful. And have I asked too much?”

“Never once.” Victarion took a breath. “He will come around, this wayward boy of yours. Perhaps with some responsibility, some direction, you can drive the softness from him.”

Balon considered the matter. “Perhaps,” he said, and his voice was not quite as hard as it had been earlier in the day. “Enough of this talk though.”

His brother followed the command and the insinuation both, his hands finding purchase in the darkness. Although he could not see Balon’s face, he could imagine the lines softening, but just barely, as he pleasured him, and although Balon rarely reciprocated the favor, Victarion did not mind. He was content to serve, content to have faith in his brother and king.

Thanks for reading my mind. This is pretty much exactly how I imagine them. I love how close they seem, and your Balon sounds badass. He can join Stannis and Roose in the ascetics club. And, guuuuuh, Balon untying Victarion's hair ... that's way hotter than it ought to be. It's a beautiful image, it reminds me of that amazing picture of the Greyjoys (I'm sure you know which one I mean), and I like to think that's maybe it's some sort of ritual for them, you know, Balon's way of telling Victarion what they're going to do because they don't talk about it. And it's hot.

Awww, I'm glad that you liked it. I never feel as though I can go "too far" with this pairing because it feels like they'd be really subtle about things, and yes, ritualistic and unspoken. I never regret Greyjoycest, because my only new years' resolution (seriously because my priorities are out of whack) was to write more Greyjoys.

It's that Kingsmoot AKA "They Greyjoys are all too hot" picture, right? It's what I pictured when I wrote this.

I suppose they are very quiet about it. No talking, it's all in the movements and the little rituals they built up over the years. And I absolutely adore ships between two people who understand each other so completely without words. I think you just turned this into my favourite Greyjoycest ship. ;)

Exactly. They're all hot, and Victarion is the hottest on that picture. Mostly because of that wild, black, grey-streaked hair, so of course it made me ridiculously happy that you mentioned it.

Oh!!! I like how faitfhul Victarion can be. I never try to defend him anywhere because there's no point. I came with peace at the fact that Greyjoys are not loved in the fandom but one thing Victarion has is loyalty to the family minus Euron (but then Euron is just crazy) and you translated it so well here :p.

I've given up defending the Greyjoys or any of the other ambiguous characters that I like. Oh well.
