Re: Cersei/Ned; Rebellion outcome; "The Lion Queen"; PG-13 (Part Five)

I find myself coming to Cersei's defense ALL THE TIME. YES, she's unhinged and selfish and unpleasant, but she's such a product of her circumstances. I agree- Robert was a horrible king. He never really wanted it, and he never really tried at it. And the way he treated Cersei was inexcusable, no matter how difficult she may have been.

We've talked about this before, but I really don't think Cersei approached the idea of marriage with a "Screw this, I'm just gonna sleep with my twin" attitude. She wants it to work, and with a man like Ned, who would treat her well and respect her opinions, it just might. That said, I also don't subscribe to the "Cersei doesn't love Jaime, she's just using him" theory AT ALL. She loves him as much as she can love another person, and her entire concept of her own sexuality is wrapped up in him- she's not gonna give that up easily no matter what.

Thank you as always- your comments just make me squee and blush.
