Re: Fill 2: Wishing to be in Two Places at Once 4/4, Stannis/Sansa, Stannis/Davos

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! I was smiling all the way through it, and it totally made my day ;). This is my first time writing in the ASOIAF fandom, so I'm glad that my characterizations and character interactions worked. I'd love to write more if I can find the time.

Where have I been? ;) Mainly lurking in this community for the longest time, reading all the awesome fic people have been writing, especially all the stories concerning Stannis/Davos/Jon in some sort of combination. All of your Stannis/Davos and Stannis/Jon stories are absolutely amazing and have perfect levels of UST subtley woven throughout.

Ironically, I hadn't seen the story you had posted for this same prompt until I uploaded this, and I had to laugh at the fact that we both chose Davos to be the one to convince Stannis to dance with Sansa, and for Sansa to be the one to get Stannis to "smile" his barely there smile.

The difficulty of this story for me was Stannis' interaction with Sansa. I wanted him to attempt to be aggreable and nice to her, but not so much where it would be out of character. He's downright glacial whenever we see him interact with Selsye and never tries to ingratiate himself to others in the series, but that doesn't mean he can't attempt to do it if he wants to. Stannis will never be a romantic, but I think he can eventually win over Sansa because he has the same dedication to duty and justice as Eddard did (and Jon too, to a certain extent, which is why I think Jon/Sansa could work given the right parameters/situtaion). He just needs to take baby steps...This might sound silly, but I imagine Stannis/Sansa developing how Ned/Catelyn did--awkwardness at first, the match made out of duty to their families and to keep the peace, but ultimately they ended up respecting and deeply loving each other.

I think mentioning Davos' maimed hand is required in any kind of fic between Stannis and Davos, for so much of their relationship is build around that moment and what that moment signifies. I'm sure a university level literary analysis paper could be written on the symbolism of Davos' hand...But seriously, I love reading about Davos and Stannis in the books because Davos is really the only one who can bring Stannis out of his brooding/sulking/contemplating moments and isn't afraid to offer him a new perspective. And can even get a bit cheeky at doing it.

I like to think that Stannis will indulge in fantasies about twirling Davos while dancing or vice versa, but naturally would never act one it because it would be improper and frivolous. *sigh*
