After the Greyjoy rebellion Balon's youngest daughter Sansa was sent to Winterfell. Sansa has tried to be as kind and genteel as possible to prove people's assumptions about the Iron Born wrong. But everyone thinks it's an act and that she must really be cruel and sadistic.
She and Jon bond over being the two black sheep. They end up sneaking around. Jon doesn't want to "ruin" her so they're careful. They eventually get permission to marry.
